Exchange welcomes Cabalito - Proven breeding Stallion and Show Horse, winning in AA and Regular Hunters

We are honored to present this very special horse for sale: Cabalito offers an amazing opportunity to own a renowned breeding stallion and quality show horse. He was one of a few licensed sons of the great Hanoverian State Stud "Cordoba&quo, and like his father, was chosen to stand at the Celle National State Stud, Cabi finished his 100 Day Stallion Test with scores of 8 for both willingness to work and his overall capacity to work, among other high marks. And as a testament to his soundness, Cabi completed the entire 11 month testing process barefoot. Upon entering the US Cabi's early career included many Green Working Hunter Championships as well as ribbons to Level 7 in the Jumper ring. He took several years to produce many notable offspring, and returned to the show ring in 2007 with Circuit Tricolors and Hack Wins in the Adult Hunters, plus championships in the Regular Hunters. Cabi is offered for sale by Renae Coates of RCR Farms, located in Arizona > > http://www.exchangehj.com/listings/cabalito.html

The handsome, the stately, Freeway!!! (office joke) has been sold, I'm waiting for buyer details. Freeway was the subject of one of my most favorite photo shoots ever, and thus the cover model for many of our latest promotions. Even better, I actually enjoyed many rides on this horse, who is truly the cadillac of novice hunters. What a dream to canter. Much to his chagrin, I could keep going for what seemed like hours :) Here's best of luck to my good friend Freeway, may they love you so.

Congratulations Griffith Park Farms (my 1st SoCal barn :) on the sale of Pirate's Treasure!

Congratulations to seller Suzanne Ariola & Tommy Clark of Griffith Park Farms on the sale of Pirate’s Treasure! This one holds a special place for me as Rosey, original proprietor of GPF, was one of the first (and still one of the kindest) professionals I met outside my junior years. She welcomed me with open arms when I stumbled in from the smog-ridden, parking lot-emulating freeway that served as this 18 yr. old Okie's lifeline to horses. Rosey Reed touched the lives of many as she dabbled in equestrian sports of any type, and worked endlessly to bring publicity to our sport's athletes and knowledge to the masses. Her home base, Griffith Park Farms at the notorious LA Equestrian Center, served as the garden for many budding friendships, my own of which is cherished and lifelong. We miss you Rosey! Thanks to Tommy for keeping the GPF tradition going, and congrats on the sale of that darling pony :)

Exchange welcomes Countdown - Eligible Pregreen and already winning in Childrens

I always like to let results speak for themselves, which is why I was thrilled to hear our newest listing "Countdown" earned two Championship Tricolors over the weekend, just in time to include them in our "Welcome" post. Countdown, offered for sale by Mary Ann Funk of Ashwood Farm, was imported in early 2010 and has wasted no time rising to the top of the non-professional divisions: He was 3rd of 32 under saddle, with good ribbons over fences, on the 2010 Ocala circuit in the Childrens Hunters; and last weekend was Champion Childrens Hunter (youngers) and Champion Adult Amateur Hunter (again, youngers) at Midstates June I. What a show! Our video for Countdown is actually a young girl schooling a course of fences on him - the same rider pictured here - and it is pretty. darn. cute. I'm hoping we had a camera around for this recent Childrens success - I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, Countdown can be seen at Midstates again this week, in Parker, CO the first two weeks of July, and in Kentucky from the end of July through Pony Finals. His homebase is near Kansas City, please contact Mary Ann to arrange a trial > > http://www.exchangehj.com/listings/countdown.html

Exchange welcomes Soiree - Quality Large Green Pony Prospect

We're thrilled to have another quality pony listing from Janet Salem and Lauren Kissel of Patchwork Farm. "Soiree" is a lovely warmblood-type pony with tons of natural balance, scope and step. She was Baby Green Hunter Champion at Atlanta Spring II and has good ribbons in both Childrens and Schooling Ponies. Soiree has not broken Green status and will be very competitive in the 2011 Large Green division. She is simple, quiet, athletic and stylish. She received high marks for type and conformation at her North American Sport Pony Inspection, with additional remarks of "elegant filly, sport pony type". Soiree can be seen both weeks of the Atlanta Summer Classic, or anytime at Patchwork Farm in Georgia. Contact Lauren Kissel to arrange a trial > > http://www.exchangehj.com/listings/soiree.html

Survival of the Digitally Fit . . . next up at The Exchange!

The challenge of building a modern business identity is keeping up with it. This becomes increasingly demanding (and frustrating) with every ingenious (and stupefying) technological advancement. Five years ago, when we released the first issue of The Exchange Video Catalog, DVD was the cutting edge of media. Now it’s another rung on the ladder of digital dominance, mere steps above its analog ancestors VHS & Beta.

The pace at which technology now advances is remarkable, and a commitment to keep up with it requires superhuman foresight. Investments that used to last a decade are now renewed every three years. Just two years ago I was still receiving VHS tapes for horses, a quandary which required investment in a VHS converting machine. And software to run it. And knowledge to actually work it all. And then I never saw VHS again.

This is the soon-to-be fate of DVD media, digitally outwitted by the magical download. I’ve only begun to grasp the aesthetic capabilities of this platform, just in time to see it go. If you’ve stuck around since our first issue I applaud you, there were some certain eyesores along the way. The layout in this issue is crisp and clean, and we will continue to use it for production of our horses’ personal sale DVDs, which come with each Exchange Campaign.

This will be the Final Issue of The Exchange Video Catalog, and it’s bittersweet in a million ways. I still believe it’s an exceptional concept, and it has no doubt contributed greatly to our success, but the costs and efforts that go into producing it are decidedly un-modern. As I near hour 50 of the typical 75 (nonstop) hour investment required just to finalize this project, I am no doubt relieved it will be the last. I’ve spoken with buyers, sellers, and long-time clients, and it is clear they would be happy to see this investment of time and money spent elsewhere.

And that is precisely what we plan to do: The relief of this burden frees resources for web site expansion and increased horse show attendance. We are still committed to putting serious buyers in touch with sellers of quality horses, and we’ve been quite successful of late; despite a 5 month lag between Catalogs. So be sure to visit us at ExchangeHunterJumper.com, check out our many other quality listings, and follow along as we journey further into the unchartered realm of technology and horse sales.

Exchange welcomes Forte - Zone 2 Res. Champion Large Pony Hunter

Welcoming "Forte" - This competitive Large Pony has 2010 WEF Tricolors in the Childrens division as well as a WIHS Equitation win out of 31 entries. Forte was also 2009 Reserve Champion Large pony Hunter for Zone 2, and placed in the Top 25 in the 2009 USEF Pony Medal Finals. He's Finals qualified for the Large division in 2010, and was 10th Over Fences his Green year at Pony Finals. Forte is easy-going and competitive with lots of scope and step - I'd say he's more pocket-warmblood than pony. Great for confident move up to 3'. Shown lightly due to owner's busy schedule: Has several Baby Green Tricolors and was 3rd in BCHJA Year End Standings despite limited showing.
New horses coming - In production of the Final! issue of The Exchange Video Catalog

Still going strong here in production of the next Video Catalog - this will be the final issue of The Exchange Video Catalog! It's amazing: 5 years ago, when we released the first issue of TEVC, DVD was the cutting edge of technology. Now it's another rung on the ladder of digital growth, mere steps above it's ol' pals VHS and (old alert!) BETA . . . and honestly, I was receiving VHS tapes regularly up until about 2 years ago. I'll be sad to see our Video Catalog go, and it has certainly served us well, but in keeping with our "modern" motto, the time has come to move on. We will be investing those resources in digital expansion and we will definitely STILL be at the horse shows - hopefully more so, actually!
